The next dawn found Reggie and I eating breakfast together and both nursing hangovers.  We’d hung out in his BQ for some time listening to music then headed down to the bar for a night cap when Reggie’s supply of Red Stripe had dwindled to none.  After we’d fiinished the last of our eggs and toast Duane came in a sat down alone a few tables away from ours.  Reggie nodded at me and the two of us walked over to Duane’s table. “Hey Duane you be minding a bit of company?”“Actually Reggie I’ve had a long night and just got off work. I’m not feeling real social at the moment I hope you don’t mind.”“Oh we don’t mind but I just need to tell you someting.  Were you working the night poor Lucy went home to Jah?”
“What are you talking about Reggie?  Ofcourse I was working that night and why are you asking?”
“No particular reason I just be feeling curious about a few tings.”
“Whose this guy you got with you?”
“Oh I’m sorry dis here be Matty, he new on Roi but he be OK.”
“Good to meet you Matty.”
“I go by Matthew actually.”
“So were all the space trackers working dat night?”
“Why are you asking such a darn fool question?  What’s going through your Jamaican brain this time?  You been smoking too much ganja.”
“I’m sorry, maybe Reggie was just wondering if possibly one of your co-workers might have seen something.”“Well if they did see something they would have told the Army and that would be the end of it.”“Maybe dey tell da Army and maybe dey no be telling da Army nuttin.”“Now I know you’ve been smoking too much ganja.”
At this time 2 of Duane’s co-workers came in and sat at the table with nothing more  than a nod to us.  Duane got a pained expression on his face and took to eating his eggs.“You’ll excuse me, nice to meet you Mathew but I just want to eat and go back and catch some shut eye.”  And that was the end of our interview with Duane. We didn’t see or hear from Duane anymore that day or the next one. That alone was not unusual because the space trackers work at night and keep to themselves for the most part.  None of the other space trackers seemed to notice either or at least didn’t say anything to anyone.  Three days later one of Bobby’s relatives found Duane washed up on the beach of 2nd island when they stopped there while fishing.

No this is just a novel I’m writing. The last 4 posts have all been part of the book I’m writing but it is fiction and any resemblence to any persons, rats, crabs, or sharks living or dead is purely coincidental and all events are purely fiction and have no relationship to reality. Thanks for reading.
