Marshall Island Browns Backers

The football season is on us which brings to mind my time on Roi where I was the president of the Marshall Island Browns Backers. Everyone who knows me knows that I am passionate when it comes to my support of the greatest sports franchise of all time the Super Bowl Bound Cleveland Browns. While I was on Roi I decided it would be cool to start a chapter of the Browns Backers there. The only problem is that to be officially recognized by the Browns you need 15 members. We had 4 guys there from northern Ohio. I recruited all of them to be members of the club. One guy, Greg, isn’t exactly a football fan but he is a super nice guy and community spirited so he agreed to join. I recruited my friend Tommy Anjon to join and made him the treasurer (my friends from Roi and Ebeye will see the humor in that). It doesn’t take much on Roi to become a club officer. On my stay there I was commodore of the yacht club, secretary of the dive club, station manager, program manager, and secretary of the radio club, and secretary of the local charity. All it takes to become an officer is not being bright enough to take 2 steps back when they ask. I filled out the rest of the club by recruiting ladies I knew on Ebeye who were willing to allow their names to be used. They had no idea who the Browns were and I’m not sure they understood about the NFL either. Sadly I never quite got up to the 15 member requirement to be officially recognized. It would have been pretty cool both for the island and for the Cleveland Browns. They should have been more open minded in this case. But this year I’m sure they are going to win the Super Bowl.
In the Marshall Islands the most popular sport has to be fishing for the locals. Next to that it is probably basketball followed by volleyball. It is amusing to watch the ladies play softball wearing a muu muu. I think for the ladies they enjoy volley ball the most followed by softball. Rummy is enjoyed as a card game. Soon I plan to publish a blog about the legendary island of Arno that most every straight man on Roi dreams about.
